About
ACTIVE FOR OVER 16 YEARS!
SKETCH is recognized locally, provincially and nationally for its unique, capacity focused approach to youth engagement and organizing through the arts.
More than 6500 young people from across Canada have gathered at SKETCH with more than 1500 artists, arts educators, social-change activists, and social workers.
We filled our 6000-square-foot warehouse on King Street – from floor to ceiling – with stories, struggles, joys, laughter, with revelations, power, with great care and with great love.
SKETCH’s move west to the Artscape Youngplace means 7500 square feet — More space for more culture makers! It means becoming new neighbours with other artists, galleries, theatres, and performance spaces. It means including children in grade school, families, elders and new comers in our community.
It means expanded links to health, education, employment, housing, leadership, civic participation—all through art making.
It means overcoming the constraints of poverty, homelessness and ways that we’ve been marginalized.
It means space for more healing, more stories, more joys, more play, more revelation and innovation, more care and definitely—more Love.
